Threadlift

Thread lift for a younger look – What is a thread lift?

The thread lift is a new method to treat wrinkles with polylactic acid threads which are fully broken down by the body. Polylactic acid threads have been use in medicine for many years.

How does tightening of the face with threads work?

The thread lift is not an operation. This treatment to gently tighten the skin is carried out in our practice on an outpatient basis. After a comprehensive analysis of the patient’s face and extensive discussion, a local anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated. This makes the procedure pain-free. After about 30 minutes once the cream has started to work, the thread lift starts with the introduction of the thread into the tissue under the skin through a microneedle. The thread is either smooth or has small `barbs` or `cogs`. These structures provide a grip on the tissue and help tighten the loose skin. The treating surgeon then shapes the treated area. The result is immediately visible. This gives you a chance to provide your own personal input. This is a clear advantage over surgery, where you are treated under general anaesthesia. No scars are left behind, since the skin is treated with only very small needle punctures.

Which areas of the body are amenable to the thread lift?

The thread lift is suitable for any area of the face, neck and décolletage area, as well as for the arms and inner thighs.

Postoperative care

You should follow these instructions in order to achieve a durable effect (the result could last up to 12 months if you pay attention to these facts):

  • The day of the procedure: Cool several times for 5-10 minutes.
  • Keep the head in an elevated position at night and sleep on your back for the first 2-3 days.
  • Be careful when washing your face – do not rub!
  • Do not go into the sun, tanning salon or sauna for 14 days. Use sunscreen with factor 50.
  • Do not have facial treatments or massage for at least 3 weeks.
  • Do not do physical exercise for 5 days.
  • Avoid excessive movements of your face when you laugh, talk, chew or yawn.

Cost of the rejuvenation by means of threads

The cost for a thread lift ranges between €300 and €2,000. You can find out your approximate cost during your consultation or on the telephone at +49 (0)69 920 200.

Risk and side effects

Blood collections and swelling in the treated area may develop after treatment. These resolve in the first 2 weeks after the procedure. Very rare problems, especially after inappropriate procedures performed by inexperienced practitioners, are inflammation or injury of the tissue under the skin, the sinking of the treated tissue (which can cause unsightly asymmetry of the face), or visibility of threads which are placed too superficially. These problems are bothersome, so you should seek a competent and experienced doctor in order to benefit from the advantages of this innovative method.

Advantages at a glance:

  • Naturally looking result
