Sensual and full
A face with full lips is what many desire. Advancing age leads to the decrease of the lip volume and to a mouth that looks narrow and hard. Lip modelling is a persistent topic in the realm of beauty surgery. Stars like Kylie Jenner, the sister of the reality star Kim Kardashian from the USA, is currently a high-demand model when it comes to lip injection.
Options to enhance the lips
An individual volume correction can be carried out by means of surgery or injection of synthetic filling materials or fat. Many women fear such a step because they are put off by the excessively injected lips of some celebrities. We would like to point out that the filling of the lips is carried out carefully and gradually. A mouth looking like an inflatable boat is surely not an aesthetic ideal.
At Berkei Aesthetic Surgery we offer two successful options for filling the lips:
Lip injection with fat: In this treatment, fat is harvested from the abdomen, legs or buttocks, prepared, and injected at the target site. The advantage of lip augmentation by the patient`s own fat is that the fat is in harmony with the body and the result is durable.
Lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid: Foreign substances, such as hyaluronic acid, can lead, like own fat, to the desired effect. The hyaluronic acid is injected under local anaesthesia into the lip. This treatment takes about 30 minutes.
How long does the effect of a lip injection last?
In most cases the effect lasts 6 months and should be repeated after that in order to maintain the desired look.
Which method makes more sense for my lips?
The individual shaping of the lips can be done either at the edge of the lip, the so-called `white roll`, or in the centre of the red part of the lip. Sagging corners of the mouth can be corrected, or volume discrepancies between upper and lower lip can be eliminated. The wrinkles around the mouth that appear early in smokers can be markedly reduced by injection in the border zone (white roll).
Pain during the lip injection?
Before the treatment, an anaesthetic cream is applied to the area around the mouth. This works after about 30 minutes. The treatment is barely felt. Blood collections could develop, these are however rare and minimally visible. We recommend to patients with such a collection to use a red lipstick the next day to hide the blood collection.
Cost of the lip injection
The cost of a lip injection with hyaluronic acid starts at €300 to €600 EUR. This is only an estimate.
